Glenn explains:

The calibration is fuzzy, but in general down is more organic, up is more mechanical and electric; left is denser and more atmospheric, right is spikier and bouncier.

But that’s not all of it. The map can periodically expand, contract or combust. There are also a few other Every Noise at Once’s pages worth mentioning:

  • “A Retromatic History of Music (or Love)” which displays worldwide genres by years;
  • “We Built This City On” displays the origin of the music genres;
  • “Genres By Country” shows the music genres strength of association with countries;
  • “Every Place at once” which is more like an index of the distinctive listening of individual cities.

Every Noise at Once is an awesome visualization tool of discovering new music and the origin of it. Plus, since it’s based on Spotify data, the map will constantly updated.
